Pocari Sweat head coach Rico De Guzman had one simple explanation on the Lady Warriors’ shocking straight sets loss to Philippine Air Force in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference best-of-three semifinals series opener Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Parang in-underestimate nila ang Air Force,” said De Guzman following his squad’s 20-25, 19-25, 21-25, defeat to the same squad they swept in their first meeting in the elimination round.

The Lady Warriors were just not in the game. Nothing seemed to go right for the squad looking for a follow up for its Reinforced Conference conquest.

Pocari Sweat, which is second overall in spikes during the elims, only had 28 attack points. They gave up seven service winners to the Jet Spikers and threw away 26 points off errors.

Myla Pablo was the only Lady Warriors player in double figures with 14 points. The Reinforced Conference Finals Most Valuable Player had to bleed for points in a 13-of-46 attacking clip.

Desiree Dadang and Elaine Kasilag combined for only 10 points while Jeannette Panaga was silenced with only two points in three sets of action.

Pocar Sweat will have to regroup fast to take Game 2 on Sunday and force a winner-take-all for the best-of-three championship seat on Wednesday.
