Creamline will try to balm a painful semifinals series loss with a consolation third place trophy.
Creamline and Philippine Air Force collide to salvage a podium finish in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game 1 of the best-of-three battle for third starts at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 23 and via livestream.
The Cool Smashers dropped a sorry three-game series against BaliPure.
Creamline started the conference hot, winning eight straight including a 25-19, 13-25, 28-26, 18-25, 15-7 victory in the semis opener.
But the Cool Smashers, who are playing without national team member Alyssa Valdez since their fifth game, squandered their series lead and bowed down in the next two matches, 19-25, 25-19, 16-25, 25-18, 13-15, in Game 2 and a painful 22-25, 25-27, 23-25, loss in the decider last Wednesday.
The Jet Spikers also won their semis series opener against the Reinforced Conference champion Pocari Sweat, 25-20, 25-19, 25-21.
But Air Force dropped Game 2 in five sets, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 21-25, 12-15, and in the series decider, 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 19-25, 10-15, last Wednesday.
Game 2 of the series is on Wednesday while Game 3, if necessary, is on August 19.
In case the best-of-three championship series between Pocari Sweat and BaliPure ends in two games and the battle for third extends to a Game 3, the third place winner will be determined by quotient.
