Capate bags Open Conference MVP award

Lorenzo Capate claimed the conference Most Valuable Player award.
Cignal’s prolific scorer and leader inside the court Lorenzo Capate bagged the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference men's division Most Valuable Player award Saturday.
Capate, who won the Reinforced Conference Finals MVP plum after leading the HD Spikers to the throne, topped the attack category in the statistics race with 47.30% success rate and landed at sixth spot in aces with an average of 0.27 service winners per frame in Cignal’s seven games in the elimination round.
He finished at eighth spot in scoring with 70 spikes, three kill blocks and six aces as he led the HD Spikers to a 6-1 win-loss slate after the elimination round. Capate spearheaded Cignal’s sweep of Sta. Elena in the semifinals to book a return ticket to the championship round against Mega Builders.
Philippine Air Force’s Edwin Tolentino pocketed the 1st Best Outside Spiker award while Sta. Elena’s Isaah Arda was named 2nd Best Outside Spiker.
Kim Malabunga and Francis Saura of Mega Builders took the 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blocker citations, respectively, while Berlin Paglinawan of Sta. Elena claimed the Best Opposite Hitter award.
Cignal’s Vince Mangulabnan owned the Best Setter award while teammate Sandy Montero received the Best Libero plum.
