Pocari Sweat guns for a second straight title in the PVL against familiar rival BaliPure.

Pocari Sweat begins its quest for a second straight title when the Lady Warriors face a familiar foe in BaliPure in the best-of-three Finals series of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The first serve of the series opener will be at 6:30 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 23 and via livestream.

The Lady Warriors and Water Defenders face off for the crown for the second straight time after the two proud squads clashed in the Reinforced Conference Finals, which was won by Pocari Sweat.

Considered as the favorite team in the import-laden conference, the Lady Warriors are now the underdogs, considering the struggles they had during the course of the tournament.

But head coach Rico de Guzman wanted his wards to embrace the challenge as they gun for a fourth straight crown since the club won the Open Conference and Reinforced Conference titles in the V-League.

“Yes, yes. Ang gusto ko lang din mangyari, kahit underdog kami, is kaya namin silang talunin,” he said.

“‘Yun lang ang pumapasok sa utak namin, na kaya nating talunin, basta mag-tulungan kayo, mag-enjoy kayo sa ginagawa niyo, at tuloy-tuloy,” De Guzman.

Myla Pablo will be in charge to take the lead for Pocari Sweat with Heather Guino-o, Jeanette Panaga and Elaine Kasilag.

The Lady Warriors outlasted Philippine Air Force in their semifinal best-of-three series decider, 16-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-10, Wednesday.

Meanwhile, BaliPure with top hitter Grethcel Soltones, Jerrili Malabanan, Risa Sato and Aiko Urdas leading the charge, is looking for payback.

The Lady Warriors pulled off series upset over Creamline, showing the Cool Smashers the exit in Game 3 with a shocking 25-22, 27-15, 25-23 win.
