Lady Chiefs crush Lady Blazers in straight sets
Arellano University scored a cakewalk win over NCAA rival College of St. Benilde.

Reigning NCAA champion Arellano University reasserted its mastery over rival College of St. Benilde with a dominating, 25-20, 25-22, 25-17, win Saturday in Group B of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate League at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Jovielyn Prado led the way with 14 points for the Lady Chiefs, which dethroned the Lady Blazers in NCAA Season 92 in the stepladder semifinals to claim the school’s second league crown.

Mary Anne Esguerra added 13 points while Necole Ebuen and Regine Arocha scored nine each for Arellano U. Rhea Ramirez tallied 34 excellent sets in the Lady Blazers’ 47 attack points.

The mentor also credited his veterans for steering the squad to a morale-boosting win. Prado, Esguerra, Arocha and Andrea Marzan, who scored six points, played for the Power Smashers in the PVL Reinforced and Open conferences.

Skipper Klarissa Abriam, a transferee from National University, finished with nine points for the Lady Blazers, the NCAA Season 91 champs.

Another ex-NU player Marites Pablo had seven while graduating player Ranya Musa and veteran Rachel Austero had a disappointing opening game performance with just six and five points, respectively, for CSB.
