Lady Stags, Lady Bombers clash to barge in win column
San Sebastian College hopes to erase its disappointing opening day setback as the Lady Stags lockhorns with Jose Rizal University.

San Sebastian College - Recoletos and Jose Rizal University seek to rebound from their opening day setbacks as they square off Wednesday in Group A of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The match is set at 6:30 p.m. and will air via livestream.

A rebuilding team after the departure of three-time NCAA Most Valuable Player Grethcel Soltones and veteran Katherine Villegas, the Lady Stags were no match against the rampaging Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 17-25, 21-25, 14-25, last Sunday in their tournament opener.

“Madami pa talagang dapat gawing adjustments kasi bata pa talaga ang team. Ang sabi ko lang sa kanila na bawi na lang sa next game,” said Soltones, who is now acting as assistant for head coach Roger Gorayeb.

The Lady Stags will need to squeeze out more from their holdovers Nikka Dalisay, Joyce Sta. Rita, Daurene Santos, setter Vira Guillema and libero Alyssa Eroa.

The Lady Bombers, meanwhile, are also reeling from an opening day defeat at the hands of Ateneo de Manila University.

JRU absorbed a 17-25, 15-25, 15-25, beating from the Lady Eagles last Saturday.

Shola Alvarez will need to get more support from her teammates to hurdle the Lady Stags.
