Ateneo, UST stake unbeaten slates in clash for solo lead
Ateneo de Manila University ace Marck Espejo will try to preserve his team's unbeaten slate.

Unbeaten teams Ateneo de Manila University and University of Sto. Tomas clash for the solo lead Saturday in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Blue Eagles and Tigers share the early lead with 2-0 win-loss records.

Only one team will remain unscathed after the 8:00 a.m. curtain-raiser before Far Eastern University and De La Salle University joust at 10:00 a.m.

Four-time UAAP Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo, who is averaging 21 points per game, is expected to once again lead the Oliver Almadro-mentored squad to victory.

Espejo scored 15 markers in the Blue Eagles’ 25-23, 25-16, 27-25, win over San Beda College last Wednesday.

UST, behind the trio of Joshua Umandal, Arnold Bautista and Jayvee Sumagaysay, has yet to lose a set after sweeping University of the Philippines and DLSU.

The Tamaraws and Green Spikers are in a four-way tie with 1-1 slate together with UP and National University.
