Masakit ‘yung left side ng left knee ko and parang may nag-pop -- Lady Eagle Kim Gequillana
Ateneo de Manila University veteran Kim Gequillana went down with a knee injury early in the third set of the Lady Eagles’ match against Far Eastern University in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Gequillana is set undergo an x-ray on Sunday on her left knee, which she hurt after an awkward landing early in the third frame where the Lady Eagles were trailing. The match was tied at one set apiece.
“Hindi naman masakit na masakit pero may sakit, may discomfort. Bukas ipapa-x-ray namin o kaya mamaya,” said Ateneo team manager Tony Boy Liao.
The Lady Eagle was stretchered immediately back to their dugout and had her knee iced.
“Masakit ‘yung left side ng left knee ko and parang may nag-pop,” said Gequillana, who was reverted to being a spiker after playing a libero role in Ateneo’s opening day win against Jose Rizal University.
“Yung pain scale seven (of 10) kanina pero ngayon five na lang,” she added.
The Lady Eagles faced FEU without skipper Bea De Leon, who was on an immersion, while Lady Eagles Maddie Madayag (ankle sprain) and Ana Gopico (hamstring) were also nursing injuries.
