Lady Tams, Lady Eagles meet in UAAP preview
Rebuilding Ateneo de Manila University gets a real test against a veteran-laden Far Eastern University side.

Far Eastern University and Ateneo De Manila University dispute the solo lead in a preview of the UAAP wars on Saturday.

Tied at 1-0 win-loss card with idle National University, the Lady Tamaraws and Lady Eagles cross paths at 6:30 p.m. in Group A of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

“Magandang laban ‘yan,” said FEU coach George Pascua of the match that will air live via livestream.

The Lady Tams turned back San Sebastian College, 25-17, 25-21, 25-14, last week in their conference opener.

Bernadeth Pons, Toni Rose Basas, Celine Domingo and Jerrili Malabanan led the way in FEU’s debut win.

The Lady Tams an advantage in terms of experience with their veterans compared to the rebuilding Lady Eagles but Pascua is not taking Ateneo lightly.

“Ateneo siyempre powerhouse pa rin ‘yan, di pwedeng biruin ‘yan,” he said. “Kahit na wala na ‘yung dati nilang mga players, may pride pa rin ‘yan.”

Skipper Bea De Leon had 14 points while Kat Tolentino, Maddie Madayag, Jules Samonte and Jho Maraguinot provided the support in the Lady Eagles’ 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Jose Rizal University a week ago.
