Diana Carlos led University of the Philippines to an easy win over Technological Institute of the Philippines.
University of the Philippines flexed its muscles and handily destroyed Technological Institute of the Philippines, 25-20, 25-9, 25-13, Monday to barge in the win column of Group B in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Maroons found some resistance in the opening set before eventually whipping the Lady Engineers to submission to bounce back mightily from a 5-set opening day heartbreak against Adamson University last week.
Diana Carlos led the Diliman-based squad with 14 points including 11 attacks. The incoming third year player also chipped in on defense with seven excellent receptions for UP, which is on transition after head coach Jerry Yee called it quits a couple of weeks ago.
Isa Molde scored 12 points and eight digs while Marian Buitre had nine markers for the Lady Maroons, who tied idle San Beda College with 1-1 win-loss slate.
"Sinabi namin na kailangang magbago lang ng mindset. Maliban dun sa transition sa talo pero dun nga sa pagbago ng system namin since wala na nga si coach (Jerry)," said UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort. "Inaalis namin sa utak ng bata ang gulo sa labas."
The Lady Engineers dropped their second match in as many outings. Ashley Jinon scored six while Alyssa Layug got five for TIP.
