Blue Eagles stake unblemished card vs. winless Blazers
Marck Espejo will try to lead Ateneo de Manila University to its fourth straight win.

Unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University aims to keep its perfect record intact and solidify its bid for a semifinals spot in a showdown against winless College of St. Benilde on Wednesday in the men’s division of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.

The Blue Eagles march in the 8:00 a.m. joust at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan sporting a 3-0 win-loss record.

With top Most Valuable Player contender Marck Espejo leading the way, the three-time UAAP champion Ateneo holds the solo lead and is heavily favored against the struggling NCAA titlists Blazers.

The Blue Eagles swept University of Sto. Tomas, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18, last Saturday to become the only remaining team with an unblemished slate.

CSB, on the other hand, is the only squad that has yet to taste victory.

The Taft-based squad is down at the cellar with a 0-2 mark. The Blazers lost to University of the Philippines, 18-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 14-16, more than a week ago.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University looks to extend its winning streak to three against UST at 10:00 a.m.

The Tamaraws, which defeated National University and De La Salle University after opening their campaign with a four-set defeat against Ateneo, and the Tigers are tied at 2-1 cards behind the Blue Eagles.
