JRU, LPU seek first win
Lyceum of the Philippines University hopes to bounce back from an opening day setback in a showdown with skidding Jose Rizal University.
Listless teams Lyceum of the Philippines University and Jose Rizal University battle for a taste of victory on Wednesday in Group A of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Opening serve of the Lady Pirates-Lady Bombers joust is at 6:30 p.m. and will air via livestream.
LPU is coming off a 9-day break since the Lady Pirates opened their campaign on a sour note.
The Intramuros-based squad suffered a 17-25, 16-25, 21-25, setback against the much-taller National University side last Sept. 4.
LPU head coach Emil Lontoc pins his hopes on Rocelyn Hongria, La Rainne Fabay, Bien Juanillo and Cherilyn Sindayen.
JRU lost all of its first two games.
With only Shola Alvarez, who is averaging 11 points per game, carrying much of the scoring load for the Heavy Bombers, the Mandaluyong-based squad was easily dominated by Ateneo de Manila University and San Sebastian College.
