Ateneo de Manila University hunts for the first semifinals ticket.
Undefeated Ateneo de Manila University aims for the first semifinals spot against University of the Philippines on Saturday in the men’s division of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 10:00 a.m.
Sporting a 4-0 win-loss record, the Blue Eagles are just a victory away from clinching a spot in the best-of-three semis.
Behind the consistent game of four-time UAAP Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo, who is averaging 19 points per game, the Blue Eagles are on the right track of annexing another crown in a Sports Vision-organizeed tournament after claiming the now defunct V-League’s last two Collegiate Conference titles – all in clean sweep.
The three-time UAAP champion Ateneo is coming off a 25-13, 25-22, 25-22, demolition of reigning NCAA titlist College of St. Benilde last Wednesday.
Espejo led the way with 17 points while Ishmael Rivera had nine markers. The duo are expected to deliver once again against the Fighting Maroons.
UP is in a three-way tie at 1-2 slate with San Beda College and National University. The Maroons were turned back by the Red Spikers, 22-25, 22-25, 19-25 on Monday.
Meanwhile, San Beda College faces De La Salle University (2-2) at 8:00 a.m.
