University of the Philippines eye its second straight win and a chance to keep its semifinals berth hopes alive.
University of the Philippines and College of St. Benilde fight for survival Monday in Group B of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Opening serve is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
With only the top two teams in each group advancing in the best-of-three semifinals after the elimination round, the Lady Maroons and Lady Blazers are on a dangerous position to miss the cut.
UP sports a 1-1 win-loss record at fourth spot while CSB is at the fifth with a winless card after two outings.
The Lady Maroons recovered from a painful 5-set loss to Adamson University in their tournament debut with a straight sets demolition of Technological Institute of the Philippines, 25-20, 25-9, 25-13 last week.
Veterans Diana Carlos and Isa Molde will try lead the Diliman-based squad, which is still adjusting after the resignation of head coach Jerry Yee, to its second win and keep at pace with the leading teams Adamson (3-0), Arellano University (2-1) and San Beda College (2-1).
Another loss by the Lady Blazers will show the Taft-based squad the exit door to join eliminated TIP.
CSB, the NCAA champion two years ago, bowed down to the Lady Red Spikers, 21-25, 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, last Wednesday.
