Adamson gains semis seat, loses Galanza to ankle injury
Victory came at a high cost for Adamson University after the Lady Falcons lost team captain Jema Galanza to a right ankle injury.

Adamson University punched a semifinals ticket in Group B of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, but it came at a high price.

The Lady Falcons swept College of St. Benilde, 25-19, 25-20, 25-17, Monday but lost ace player Jema Galanza to a harrowing right ankle injury early in the third set at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

After a disappointing last place finish in the Open Conference, the Lady Falcons entered the best-of-three semis after claiming their fourth win in as many outings.

Eli Soyud led the Lady Falcons with 18 points while Chiara Permentilla got 10 markers. Galanza left the game with nine points.

The Queen Falcon broke her ankle after a bad landing in a block attempt in the third set with Adamson ahead, 5-0.

Galanza was rushed to Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

The also-ran Lady Blazers dropped to 0-4 slate. Ranya Musa had 14 points while Rachel Austero had 13 for CSB.
