Jaja Santiago wreaked havoc at the net as National University easily submitted Jose Rizal University for its fourth straight win.
Unbeaten National University continued with its winning ways and secured at least a playoff for a semifinals berth Monday in Group A of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Bulldogs extended its winning streak to fourth straight and kept a tight hold of the solo lead after a quick work of the hapless Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers, 25-11, 25-15, 25-13.
The firepower of NU veterans Jaja Santiago, Risa Sato, Jorelle Singh and Aiko Urdas were just too much for the Lady Bombers to handle as the Lady Bulldogs dominated the match that served as a primer before their end of elims showdown against Ateneo de Manila University (3-1) on Saturday.
Singh scored 13 points coming off nine attacks and four service aces for NU. Santiago had 12 markers including nine off spikes while Sato and Urdas added 11 and eight markers, respectively, for the Lady Bulldogs
"Close to getting satisfied na. Lumalabas ang system as you can see kanina, marami ng layers of attacks na nakikita," said NU coach Babes Castillo. "And 'yung defense system I think naiintindihan na nila ang sistema."
"Although ang pinaka-challenging sa amin ay 'yung aming maliit na roster," added Castillo, whose wards rained down 40 attack points compared to JRU's 14. "Makikita mo na kailangan talagang i-manage ang time para hindi ma-exhaust ang bata."
Shola Alvarez finished with five points for JRU,which remained winless after four games. Karen Montojo, Dolly Versoza and Christine Ebuenga combined for only 10 points for the Lady Bombers, who only created 17 points while the bulk of their match score came from NU's 22 errors.
