De La Salle University hopes to secure at least a playoff for a semifinals seat.
De La Salle University guns for at least a playoff for a semifinals berth against the also-ran University of the Philippines Wednesday in the men’s division of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.
The Green Spikers march into the 10:00 a.m. match at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan hoping to close the elimination round with a victory and secure a playoff in case of a tie for the fourth and last semis slot.
DLSU sports a 3-3 win-loss record.
The Taft-based squad is coming off a 15-25, 20-25, 22-25, defeat at the hands of unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University (6-0) last Saturday. The Blue Eagles and Far Eastern University (5-1) are through to the best-of-three semis.
The Fighting Maroons bowed out of contention with a 1-5 mark and are on a four-game losing skid with their last defeat handed by FEU, 22-25, 25-23, 24-26, 14-25, last Monday.
Meanwhile, University of Sto. Tomas and San Beda College collide at 8:00 a.m. with both teams looking to boost their semis hopes.
The Tigers and Red Spikers hold identical 2-3 slates.
