Adamson guns for elims sweep, move on after losing Galanza
Senior high player Chiara Permentilla (no. 9) of Adamson University will play a bigger role after veteran ace scorer Jema Galanza went down with a tournament-ending ankle injury.

Adamson University hopes to complete an elimination round sweep in Group B sans its ‘heart and soul’ as the Lady Falcons collide with a well-rested San Beda College in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Monday.

Action begins at 6:30 p.m. and will air live via ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.

The Lady Falcons are on a hot four-game winning streak and another win will put position them as top seed in the best-of-three semifinals against the second seed in Group A.

Arellano University (4-1) occupied the other Final Four seat in the bracket.

Adamson will try to move on after losing its top hitter Jema Galanza to a gruesome right ankle injury last week in the Lady Falcons’ 25-19, 25-20, 25-17, victory over College of St. Benilde.

Galanza was ruled out of the tournament after dislocating her ankle early in the third set. She will be out of commission for at least two months but could still see action for her fifth and last playing year in the UAAP early next year depending on her recovery.

Holding the fort while Galanza is out are Eli Soyud, Joy Dacoron and senior high players Chiara Permentilla and Le-Ann Perez.

The Lady Red Spikers carry a 2-2 slate and just looking to end their campaign on a high note.
