Konting angas lang, low key lang -- Czarina Carandang (no. 14) of being Far Eastern University's newest swag queen
Far Eastern University middle Czarina Carandang smacked the ball right at an open spot in the middle of Adamson University’s side in the fourth set of their best-of-three semifinals Game 2 of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Saturday.
The third-year player gave a long stare down at the Lady Falcons.
“Aba palaban!,” National University setter Jasmine Nabor joked while she and the Lady Bulldogs watched the match near the entrance to FilOil Flying V Centre’s dugouts .
During the closing juncture of the fifth set, Carandang gave Adamson scorer Eli Soyud a grin and another dose of stare down after scoring on a kill block.
FEU needed an inspiration when its back was against the wall in the semis series.
Carandang unleashed her inner Remy Palma, the former FEU skipper known for her swag, as the Lady Tams survived elimination to keep their semifinals hopes alive in a thrilling, 21-25, 27-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11, win that tied the series at 1-1.
Carandang had 15 spikes, three kill blocks and two service winners while playing and starting in all five sets.
But her swag and antics in her inspired play was something that definitely made Palma, who witnessed the match, proud.
“Kanina nga nagkaka-eye to eye kami ni Ate Remy.
The Tanauan, Batangas player looked up to Palma, who exhausted all her five playing years in the UAAP last season, even before.
Asked if she’s a Remy Palma in the making, Carandang said that nothing beats the original.
“Si Ate Rem po talaga yung parang ‘The Boss’ talaga, paran ako kampon na lang,” she said. “Konting angas lang, low key lang.”
