Adamson, FEU clash for last Finals ticket
Adamson University and Far Eastern University meet for one last time for the remaining PVL Collegiate Conference championship spot.
It’s anybody’s game.
Only the hungrier team between Adamson University and Far Eastern University will get a chance to vie for the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference crown when the two squads collide in the best-of-three semifinals series decider at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan Monday.
Opening serve is set at 6:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
The winner of the match clashes with unbeaten National University in a best-of-three championship showdown starting Wednesday.
The Tamaraws snapped the Lady Falcons’ six-game winning run with a series tying, 21-25, 27-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11, victory in Game 2 last Saturday.
FEU saw a new scoring option in Czarina Carandang, who scored 20 points the last time out, to fill in the void left by UAAP beach volleyball bet Bernadeth Pons. The Lady Tams also took advantage of Adamson’s 43 errors to force a decider against the Lady Falcons, who played without beach volleyball players Bernadette Flora and Chrislyn Uy.
Put in a do or die situation for the first time in the tournament, Adamson coach Air Padda sees it as a chance for her wards to show their character.
“Game 3 is where we’re playing to survive,” said Padda, whose team took the series opener also in five sets. “We really need this. Maybe we’ll see the team that we’ve been wanting to see and we’ve got to be hungry for it, we gonna have to want it more than them.”
Padda could field Flora and Uy in the crucial match to help Eli Soyud, senior high schooler Chiara Permentilla, Joy Dacoron and May Roque on offense and defense.
The loser of the duel will face Arellano University in the best-of-three battle for third starting Wednesday.
