Valdez gives home province fans a treat in PVL on Tour
Alyssa Valdez endured a long and exhausting travel to give her fans who trooped to Batangas City Coliseum a volleyball treat.
Volleyball star Alyssa Valdez gave avid fans from her home province of Batangas City a treat Sunday night, despite a long and exhausting trip from Iloilo as she bannered Creamline to a heart-stopping win in the second leg of the “PVL on Tour”.
Valdez led the Cool Smashers to a 17-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 19-17 win over BanKo-Perlas in the exhibition match held at the Batangas City Coliseum.
The former Ateneo Queen Eagle, who hails from San Juan, Batangas, smashed the match-clinching kill to seal the magical night that left the crowd leaving the venue with smile on their faces.
Valdez, who took a brief break from her duties with Chinese Taipei club Attack Line just to attend the PVL on Tour, endured an exhausting travel from Iloilo to Batangas City.
She was supposed to fly to Manila from Iloilo on Oct. 13 at 10:30 p.m., but her flight was cancelled. Valdez had to travel by ferry to Bacolod and found a flight at 2:00 p.m. After arriving in Manila, she immediately travelled to Batangas City.
In the only other game, Myla Pablo spearheaded Pocari Sweat to a 17-25, 27-25, 16-25, 26-24, 15-5 win over a Grethcel Soltones-led Bali Pure.
Valdez is scheduled to play when the PVL on Tour visits Iloilo on Oct. 17 and Bacolod on Oct. 18.
