More than winning the exhibition match and giving the fans an action-packed performance in the Premier Volleyball League All-Star Sunday, veteran men’s volleyball coach Rhovyl Verayo was happy to be a part of the event aimed for a noble cause.
The Air Force staff sergeant steered the Yellow Team to a 25-16, 20-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-9, win over Blue Team at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan in the charity match organized for the benefit of Hero Foundation.
The said foundation helps our men in uniform and the orphans of fallen soldiers.
“Malaking pasasalamat namin dito sa Premier Volleyball League kasi nga, as a uniformed personnel, malaki ang naitutulong sa amin ng Hero Foundation,” said Verayo.
Berlin Paglinawan caught fire in the deciding set, scoring five points including the match-clinching kill.
Fauzi Ismail of Philippine Air Force had 14 points while Jet Spikers teammates Ranran Abdilla, the Reinforced Conference Most Valuable Player, and Kim Malabunga finished with 13 markers each for Yellow Team.
Paglinawan played for only three sets but still came up with 11 points while Francis Saura got 11 markers.
Marck Espejo led Blue Team with 16 points with all but one coming off kills while Mark Alfafara got 10.
