After a two-year hiatus, powerhouse PLDT will make its return and will join the 2nd Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference set to open tentatively on April 1.
Seasoned coach Roger Gorayeb will again take the reins of the squad he steered to the two titles in the 2015 V-League then backstopped by Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago and Grethcel Soltones.
Gorayeb said he had already told BaliPure team manager Paulo Turno of his plan of returning to his mother club team PLDT as its coach in time for the PVL’s season-opening tournament.
“I’ve just talked to him (Turno) and I explained that I have no choice but to leave since PLDT is my mother team,” said Gorayeb.
Soltones will again don the PLDT jersey. She along with Lizlee Ann Gata-Pantone and Alyssa Eroa bolted out of BaliPure, which Gorayeb also steered to claiming the PVL’s inaugural Open Conference title.
San Sebastian College standouts Joyce Sta. Rita and Katherine Villegas also committed to see action with the team.
The rest of PLDT’s roster has yet to be finalized with Gorayeb hinting that the management is looking at recruiting some UAAP players.
PLDT is a former powerhouse team having won two championships in the V-League Open and Reinforced Conferences two years ago.
But the squad will be missing the services of Valdez, who is now suiting up for the Creamline Cool Smashers.
