The core of the reigning back-to-back NCAA champion Arellano University will banner newcomer Tacloban.
New Premier Volleyball League team Tacloban submitted the names of Thai players Amporn Hyapha and Sutadta Chuweulim as their prospective imports for the second edition of the Reinforced Conference set to open shop on May 6.
The Dan Palami-owned Fighting Warays tapped the current Bangkok Glass outside hitter Chuweulim and Hyapha, who has played under head coach Nes Pamilar before, to beef up their roster bannered by the core of back-to-back NCAA champion Arellano University.
Jovielyn Prado, Andrea Marzan, libero Eunice Galang, Regine Arocha and Anne Esguerra, who starred in Arellano’s title conquest in the NCAA and were part of Pamilar’s Power Smashers last year, will join forces with reigning NCAA Most Valuable player Shola Alvarez and San Sebastian College setter Vira Guillema.
Alvarez had a couple of titles with Pocari Sweat and her presence will boost the firepower of Tacloban, which is looking to make an impact in the 8-team import-laden contest.
Also in the lineup are Bangladesh Panteleon and UAAP players Heather Guino-o and Kyle Negrito of Far Eastern University and University of the East’s Seth Rodriguez and Judith Abil.
Arellano mentor Obet Javier will serve as one of Pamilar’s deputies together with Al Carpio and Ariel Dela Cruz.
PVL teams are given at least a month before the start of the season to finalize their respective rosters and clear their imports’ international transfer certificates (ITCs).
