Creamline cruised past Petro Gazz to open its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference on a high note.
A beefed up Creamline squad made true to its tag as a team to beat as the star-studded Cool Smashers demolished newcomer Petro Gazz, 25-18, 25-16, 25-13, Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference at the jam-packed FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Returning Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin and new partner middle blocker Serbian Nikolina Asceric complemented the crack local crew bannered by Alyssa Valdez, setter Jia Morado, and new recruits Michelle Gumabao and libero Mel Gohing at the start of the Cool Smashers' campaign to claim the elusive title.
Kaewpin led the way with 17 points with all but one coming off attacks and Valdez had 14 markers off eight spikes and six service aces while adding eight digs. Gumabao had five kills, two kill blocks and two service aces for nine points while Gohing tallied seven excellent receptions.
Creamline dominated the whole match and never gave the Angels a chance to put up a significant resistance.
Estonian import Kadi Kullerkan finished with 11 points while Ukranian Anastasia Trach and Chie Saet combined for 10 markers for Petro Gazz.
The Angels were punished by the Cool Smashers from the service line with Creamline nailing 10 aces. Petro Gazz also gave away 22 points off errors and were pummeled by the Cool Smashers' 39 attacks.
