PVL: Balipure, Iriga clash in debut
High school standouts-bannered Balipure collide with Iriga-Navy.

A young Balipure squad gets an early test when the Water Defenders face a veteran-laden Iriga-Navy side in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Composed of the core of four-time UAAP high school champion Nazareth School-National University, the Water Defenders, who finished runner-up in last year’s import-flavored conference, march into action at 4:00 p.m.

The match will air via livestream.

Leading the way for BaliPure are high school standouts Faith Nisperos, Princes Robles and UAAP Season 80 girls Most Valuable Player Mhicaela Belen.

The Water Defenders tapped the service of American Alexis Mathews, who is on her second stint as an import after playing in another commercial league.

All eyes are also on Balipure’s other rising stars setter Joyme Cagande, Ivy Lacsina, Alyssa Solomon and libero Jennifer Nierva as they test their mettle against seasoned opponents.

The Lady Oragons are making a return in the Sports Vision-organized league after a short stint in the defunct V-League in 2016.

Skipper Grazielle Bombita leads Iriga backed by players from Philippine Navy with American Macy Ubben and Lauren Whyte as reinforcements.
