Nagkakaroon na ng tiwala sa isa't isa eh, so sabi ko, kaya nga noong fifth set, sabi ko magtiwala lang tayo sa isa't isa, magtulungan lang -- Tacloban head coach Nes Pamilar
Tacloban head coach Nes Pamilar liked what he saw with the Fighting Warays in a tightly contested five-set battle against Petro Gazz Wednesday night.
The Fighting Warays outlasted the Angels, 25-17, 27-25, 21-25, 14-25, 15-13, to barge in the win column of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
“Nagkakaroon na ng tiwala sa isa't isa eh, so sabi ko, kaya nga noong fifth set, sabi ko magtiwala lang tayo sa isa't isa, magtulungan lang,” said Pamilar.
Tacloban rebounded from a straight sets loss to PayMaya in the season opener last Sunday in a character-building fashion.
The Fighting Warays squandered a two set lead before showing great composure in the closing stretch of the fifth set.
Tacloban erased an 8-10 deficit with four unanswered points for a 12-10 lead. Ukranian import Anastasia Trach tied the frame at 12 before Fighting Warays Thai import Sasiwimol Sangpan scored on an of the block hit.
Trach tied it again at 13 before Shola Alvarez pushed the Fighting Warays at match point with an off the block hit off the hands of Wensh Tiu. Thai import Hyapha Amporn sealed the win with a match-clinching kill block on Trach.
“Nakita naman natin na pati ‘yung character ng bawat isa, lumaban talaga,” said Pamilar.
Tacloban will take on BanKo Perlas on Wednesday.
