PayMaya came back from a five-point deficit in the fourth set to complete a 25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, bounce back win over Iriga-Navy in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
The High Flyers improved to 3-1 win-loss record for the solo lead and recovered from a straight sets loss to Creamline last week in Tuguegarao.
American import Tess Rountree led the way with 24 points highlighted by 20 attacks while Shelby Sullivan and Aiko Urdas had 11 markers each for the Roger Gorayeb led squad.
Jasmine Nabor tallied 22 excellent sets while veteran libero Lizlee Anne Gata-Pantone had 29 digs and 15 excellent receptions for the High Flyers.
PayMaya slowly chipped away a 21-16 deficit in the fourth frame and regained the lead they held early in the set after an error by the fading Lady Oragons, 23-22, off an Iriga-Navy error. Celine Domingo put the High Flyers at match point with a solid kill block before the Lady Oragons saved a point.
Shyra Cabriana threw away Iriga-Navy’s chance to extend the set with a wayward service that ended the one hour, 56-minute match.
American reinforcements Macy Ubben and Lauren Whyte scored 26 and 20 points, respectively, for the Lady Oragons, who dropped to 1-1 slate.
