BATANGAS CITY -- Alyssa Valdez scored from almost everywhere and in every way.
The Creamline star was sharp from the service line. When the Cool Smashers needed clutch points in second set, Valdez was there.
Heck, Valdez even scored off a blocked spike attempt that bounced of her head, grazed the top of the net before falling on an unguarded spot in the third frame.
Playing with skill, grit and a drizzle of luck, Valdez led Creamline to a 25-14, 27-25, 26-24, win over Tacloban on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum here.
The Cool Smashers snatched their second straight win for a 4-1 win-loss record and a hold of the solo lead.
Valdez led the way with 22 points highlighted by eight aces to go with her 14 kills for Creamline, which landed a total of 14 service winners and 44 attack points. Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin scored 16 markers while Serbian Nina Asceric chipped in with nine points including the match-clinching kill block for the Cool Smashers.
Just like in their second set fightback, Creamline recovered from an 18-22 deficit in the third with Valdez nailing three straight aces to put the Cool Smashers at match point, 24-23.
Jovielyn Prado saved a match point for Tacloban. Creamline Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin pushed the Cool Smashers at match point advantage before Serbian Nina Asceric closed the game with a kill block on Prado.
The Fighting Warays dropped their second match in a row to slide back to 2-3 card.
Thai reinforcement Hyapha Amporn had 11 points while Prado and another Thai reinforcement Sasiwimol Sangpan scored 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for Tacloban.
