PVL: Angels, High Flyers clash to boost outright semis hopes
Petro Gazz shoots for its fourth straight win at the close of their preliminary round campaign.

Petro Gazz is suddenly making a run for an outright semifinals seat.

The red-hot Angels are looking to close their preliminary round campaign on a high note and possibly snatch one of the two automatic Final Four spots in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Season 2 when they face PayMaya Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Opening serve is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.

Petro Gazz sports a 3-3 win-loss record tied with defending champion Pocari Sweat-Air Force and Tacloban.

The Angels banked on Ukrainian import Olena Lymareva-Flink’s 30-point production to take down defending champion Pocari Sweat-Air Force, 25-19, 20-25, 28-26, 25-21, last Wednesday.

A win by Petro Gazz will give the Jerry Yee-mentored squad a chance to vie for an automatic semis seat in case of a tie at the second spot with 4-3 card. The team with the highest tiebreak in this scenario will claim the Final Four spot. The six remaining teams will play another round robin quarterfinals to determine the squads that will occupy the last two semis seats.

The High Flyers dropped na sorry five-set, 25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 22-25, 11-15, loss to BanKo last week.

PayMaya holds a 3-2 slate tied with BaliPure-National University.
