Vice Co. moved up to a share of the top spot after a four-set win over PLDT Home Fibr.
Vice Co. survived the scoring rampage of PLDT Home Fibr’s Mark Alfafara as the Blockbusters downed the streaking Ultra Fast Hitters, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, Saturday for a share of the lead in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference men’s play at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Richard Solis smashed 17 attacks in his 18-point production while JP Bugaoan uncorked 11 markers for Vice Co., which tied defending champion Cignal at the top spot with a 3-1 win-loss record.
The Kapamilya star Vice Ganda-owned team, which is yet to see the playing team owner in action, claimed its second straight win and spoiled the 24-point effort of Alfafara.
Berlin Paglinawan and Peter Quiel added nine points each while Jude Garcia and Paolo Pablico combined for 10 markers for the Blockbusters, who got 11 kill blocks and received 34 free points off PLDT’s errors.
Vice Co. survived the match despite getting outhit by the Ultra Fast Hitters, 52-68, while playmaker Owen Suarez was outplayed by his former FEU teammate Ronchette Villegas, 25-53, in excellent sets.
Alfafara fired 21 spikes and scored three kill blocks while skipper John Vic De Guzman and Henry Pecana finished with 17 and 15 markers, respectively, for PLDT, which slid to 2-3 card and saw its two-game winning run snapped.
