PayMaya looks to win back-to-back games to boost its morale heading into na Final Four.
Semis-bound PayMaya squares off with BaliPure-National University at the close of the preliminary round of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Wednesday.
Opening serve is at 6:30 p.m. and will air via livestream.
The High Flyers joined league-leading Creamline (5-1) in the Final Four after clinching an outright seat with a 4-2 win-loss record.
PayMaya already has the superior quotient in case of a tie with the Water Defenders, who sport a 3-3 card.
It will be an interesting match for both teams as the core of PayMaya played under the BaliPure banner last year including the franchise’s breakthrough title in the inaugural Open Conference.
Another subplot in the duel is the clash between former NU head coach and High Flyers mentor Roger Gorayeb against the Water Defenders’ tactician Babes Castillo, who replaced Gorayeb as the Lady Bulldogs coach last year.
Also crossing paths for the first time are veteran setter Jasmine Nabor of PayMaya and Joyme Cagande of BaliPure. Nabor is the current playmaker of NU while Cagande, a multi-awarded setter for the NU’s high school team, is an incoming rookie Lady Bulldogs rookie for UAAP Season 81.
The High Flyers rebounded from a loss with a straight sets win over Petro Gazz last Saturday while the Water Defenders are on a two-game slide.
