PVL: Perlas Spikers sweep Fighting Warays

BanKo opened its quarterfinals campaign on a bright note after a quick work of Tacloban.
BanKo stormed past Tacloban as the Perlas Spikers downed the Fighting Warays, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18, Saturday in their Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference quarterfinals opener at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Perlas Spikers got its payback against their preliminary round tormentors to inch closer to one of the two semifinals seats at stake in the round robin quarters.
“Siguro atat na rin ang mga players ko na bumawi and umpisa na ito ng quarterfinal round so magandang start,” said BanKo head coach Dong Dela Cruz, whose squad won its third straight match since the prelims.
Kia Bright was on fire as the American import fired 19 points highlighted by 17 attacks while playing superb floor defense with 16 digs and eight excellent receptions for the Perlas Spikers.
Thai import Jutarat Montripila had 13 markers with all but one coming off spikes while Nicole Tiamzon added 10 for BanKo.
Tacloban saw its two-game winning run snapped.
Thai reinforcement Hyapha Amporn had 12 points, Jovielyn Prado finished with nine for the Fighting Warays.
Patcharee Saengmuang had a quiet outing with only seven points for Tacloban.
