PVL: Perlas Spikers, Angels battle for semis spot
BanKo looks to complete a sweep of the quarterfinals and set a Final Four showdown with PayMaya.

Unbeaten BanKo sets its sights on completing a sweep of the quarterfinals but Petro Gazz wants to write a different story when the two Final Four contenders collide in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Action begins at 4:00 p.m. and will air via livestream.

The Perlas Spikers are on a hot streak with four straight victories and already assured of at least a playoff for the last semis berth in case BanKo loses to the Angels.

The Dong Dela Cruz-mentored Perlas Spikers defeated BaliPure, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19, last Saturday to narrow the semis race to three teams.

A win will give BanKo the No. 3 seed in the best-of-three semifinals against PayMaya while idle defending champion Pocari Sweat-Air Force (4-1) will set a showdown with top seed Creamline.

The Angels, meanwhile, hold a 3-1 win-loss slate and are on a three-game winning streak.

Petro Gazz, which defeated BanKo in a come-from-behind five-set match in the preliminary round, needs to win by straight sets or four sets to secure the no. 3 seed.

A five set win will send the Angels to a do-or-die match against the Lady Warriors for the no. 4 spot.

If necessary, the playoff will be decided on Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Final Four series will begin on Sunday.
