Philippine Army turned back Instituto Estetico Manila in five sets to end its campaign on a high note.
Philippine Army closed its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 men's Reinforced Conference on a high note after trouncing Instituto Estetico Manila, 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 25-27, 16-14, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Troopers salvaged a win to end the round robin quarterfinals after back-to-back losses.
PJ Rojas paced Army, which took the victory despite giving away an atrocious 45 points off errors, with 16 points while skipper Benjaylo Labide pala pounded 14 kills his 15-point outing.
Jaildal Abdulmajid scattered 12 markers while Antonio Torres had 11 points for the Troopers, who had 76 kills orchestrated by Nico Ramirez's 52 excellent receptions.
The Phoenix Volley Masters ended their conference run on a sour note, losing six straight since the preliminary round after a promising start that saw IEM win its first two outings.
Greg Dolor had 14 points in four sets of action to lead the Phoenix Volley Masters.
Rudy Gatdula and Eden Canlas had 10 markers each in a lost cause for IEM.
