PVL: Water Defenders end campaign on a bright note

BaliPure-National University closed its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference with a sweep of listless Tacloban, 25-18, 25-16, 25-16, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Water Defenders snapped a three-game losing streak to end the round robin quarterfinals with a 2-3 win-loss record.
American import Janisa Johnson scored 17 points including 13 off spikes to lead BaliPure while Faith Nisperos had 13. Reinforcement Alexis Matthews finished with eight while Mhicaela Belen and Ivy Lacsina scored six apiece for the Water Defenders.
The Fighting Warays, which finished the preliminary round at third spot, went winless in five outings in the quarterfinals.
Thai Hyapha Amporn led Tacloban, which allowed BaliPure to land 12 aces, with 13 points while the rest of the Fighting Warays scored only 14 points.
