Vice Co. outlasted Philippine Air Force in five sets to force the best-of-three semifinals series to a winner-take-all on Friday.
Vice Co. kept its Finals hopes alive after surviving a marathon five set duel over Philippine Air Force, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23, 29-31, 17-15 to force a decider in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference best-of-three men's semifinals Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
JP Bugaoan unleashed 24 points built on 18 kills, five kill blocks and an ace to rally the Blockbusters back in the series.
Game 3 is on Friday.
With its back against the wall, Vice Co. came up on top after a furious race in the closing stretch of the fifth set to exact revenge on the Jet Spikers, who dealt the Blockbusters a four-set loss in the series opener last Sunday.
Jude Garcia finished with 17 points while Paolo Pablico and Kim Malabunga registered 12 and nine points, respectively, for Vice Co., which weathered the 32-point explosion of Air Force hitter Bryan Bagunas.
The National University recruit, who had 30 points in Game 1, rained down 27 attacks with four kill blocks and an ace while adding 16 excellent receptions and eight digs on floor defense.
But Bagunas' effort as well as the 25 points of Fauzi Ismail and the 20 markers of Ranran Abdilla went down the drain.
