PVL: Do-or-die showdowns for Finals seats
Four teams will go at it one last time for the right to advance in the championship round.

It’s winner-take-all Friday for the four teams shooting for championship seats in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference men’s division at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

With both pairs extending their respective best-of-three semifinals series into a decider, only the teams who want the Finals slot the most will emerge victorious.

Marching at center court for the curtain-raiser at 10:00 a.m. are defending champion Cignal and equally dangerous sister-team PLDT Home Fibr. The match will air via livestream.

The HD Spikers, who are looking to advance in the Finals for the third straight conference, drew first blood last Sunday after sweeping the Ultra Fast Hitters behind five-time UAAP MVP Marck Espejo, Rex Intal and Ysay Marasigan.

But the duo of Mark Alfafara and John Vic De Guzman powered PLDT to a hard-fought, 22-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-11, victory Wednesday to even the series and force a decider.

Game 1 of the Finals will begin on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

Meanwhile, Philippine Air Force and Vice Co. cross paths one last time at 6:00 p.m. in the nightcap.

Bryan Bagunas, Ranran Abdilla and Fauzi Ismail fueled the Jet Spikers’ assault to take the series opener in four sets.

The Blockbusters regrouped in Game 2 ad eked out a 25-22, 16-25, 25-23, 29-31, 17-15, escape win to live another day.

JP Bugaoan, who had 24 points the last time out, Jude Garcia and Paolo Pablico are expected to play big time to help the rookie squad reach the Finals.
