Pocari Sweat star Myla Pablo will miss the rest of the conference after suffering a lower back injury.
Pocari Sweat top local hitter Myla Pablo was ruled for the rest of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference after sustaining a lower back injury Friday.
Pablo was forced to skip the deciding match of the best-of-three semifinals series against the crowd-favorite Creamline after hurting her back during the warmups.
Without one of the top scorers in their arsenal and with American imports Ari Love and Maddie Palmer still recovering from bum stomachs, the Lady Warriors fell victim to the Cool Smashers’ onslaught, 15-25, 18-25, 16-25, to dethrone Pocari Sweat.
The Lady Warriors will take on the BanKo in the battle for third on Sunday at the MOA Arena.
But Pablo won’t be available in Pocari Sweat’s drive to salvage a bronze medal.
“OK na po ako, pahinga na lang po,” Pablo, who was taken to Cardinal Santos Medical Center after the game, told ABS-CBN Sports. “Hindi na (ako lalaro sa battle for third) at least naka-semis.”
Head coach Jasper Jimenez is ready to carry on without his prized hitter, who was the 2017 edition’s Finals MVP.
“Ima-mindset na lang namin na hindi na makakalaro si Myla so kailangan mag-step up sila,” he said.
“Hindi na namin siya palalaruin, sa All-Filipino (Open Conference) na lang siya,” Jimenez added.
