Pocari Sweat-Air Force sets its sights on salvaging a bronze medal after losing the crown in the semifinals.
After falling short in their Finals bids, dethroned Pocari Sweat-Air Force and BanKo look to salvage a podium finish when they cross paths in Game 1 of the best-of-three Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference battle for third at the MOA Arena.
Game time is at 2:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA CHANNEL 86, LIGA HD Channel 183 and via livestream.
The Lady Warriors failed to defend their crown after falling victim to crowd-favorite Creamline. Pocari Sweat took the semifinals series opener in straight sets but fell short in the next two games including a painful sweep in the deciding Game 3 last Friday sans local top hitter Myla Pablo.
The franchise player was ruled out for the rest of the conference after sustaining a lower back injury during the team warmup before the start of the semis decider.
American Ari Love and Maddie Palmer will carry the bulk of offense in the absence of Pablo.
The Perlas Spikers are coming off an even more painful Final Four loss. BanKo came two points away in the fourth set from clinching a Finals seat but PayMaya spoiled their party and stole a grueling five-set win in the series decider.
Kia Bright, who scored 41 points the last time out, Thai import Jutarat Montripila and local Nicole Tiamzon will spearhead BanKo’s drive for a first ever medal finish.
Game 2 is on Wednesday.
In case, the championship series ends in two games and the battle for third extends to a Game 3, the bronze medal winner will be decide via quotient.
