Creamline goes for the jugular against PayMaya.
Creamline is now in a good position to finally claim its breakthrough title.
And the Cool Smashers won’t let this opportunity pass.
The crowd-favorite squad shoots to complete a sweep of the best-of-three Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference championship series on Wednesday against PayMaya at the MOA Arena.
“Ang motivation is really finish the game,” said Creamline star hitter Alyssa Valdez, who is looking to end a three-year personal title drought since winning the defunct V-League Reinforced Conference title back in 2015 while playing for PLDT.
Action begins at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
The Cool Smashers, who finished third in last year’s Reinforced and Open Conferences, drew first blood last Sunday, winning in four sets, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19.
Creamline is not taking the High Flyers lightly, the Cool Smashers know that PayMaya is very much capable of mounting a comeback.
“There’s no mindset na we’re one game up,” said Creamline opposite spiker Michele Gumabao. “We have to enter Game 2 with a fresh mindset. We must be as eager as we were in Game 1. Start each and every set with confidence and power. We have to double our effort and play our game.”
Aside from Valdez and Gumabao, the Cool Smashers will also bank on Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin, American Lausa Schaudt, Risa Sato, veteran libero Mel Gohing and prized setter Jia Morado.
With their backs against the wall, PayMaya will need the help of other hitters to back up American Tess Rountree and Shelby Sullivan and local scorer Grethcel Soltones.
Game 3, if needed, is on Sunday.
