Adamson University snatched its second straight win as the Lady Falcons added more woes to College of St. Benilde.
Adamson University survived feisty College of St. Benilde’s furious comeback attempt in the fourth set to snatch a 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, win Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Lady Falcons head coach Air Padda called their win ‘ugly’ but nevertheless gave Adamson its second straight victory in as many outings.
After a second set meltdown, the Lady Falcons got a scare in the fourth frame. Up, 20-15, Adamson watched the Lady Blazers score four unanswered points to cut their deficit to one.
The Lady Falcons recovered just in time to fend off CSB’s comeback attempt.
“I mean it’s still ugly, it’s so inconsistent. This week we had Joy (Dacoron) back but she’s not in the best connection right now with MJ (Igao),” said Padda.
“Eli (Soyud) who normally is one of our stronger, more consistent hitters… Just overall I don’t think MJ had a very good match. She was very inconsistent. She wasn’t putting up hittable balls and it’s just ugly,” she added.
Bernadette Flora and Soyud scored 17 points each while Dacoron, who skipped Adamson’s last month to rest after her campaign in the Reinforced Conference with BanKo, had 13 markers.
Rookie Trisha Genesis, who just recovered from shingles that barred her from playing the last time out, debuted with seven points for the Lady Falcons.
CSB absorbed its second loss in as many games.
Klarisa Abriam scored 14 points while Marites Pablo and Jan Daguil finished with 12 and 11 markers, respectively, for the Lady Blazers.
