PVL: Tigresses crush Red Spikers for a share of the lead
University of Sto. Tomas destroyed San Beda University in straight sets for its third win in a row.

University of Sto. Tomas cruised to its third straight win with an emphatic sweep of San Beda University, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21, Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Rookie Eya Laure and sophomore Milena Alessandrini led the unbeaten Tigresses climb at the top spot for a share of the lead with idle Far Eastern University.

The Espana-based won all of their matches in straight sets.

“Mas ano naman ‘yun, ‘yung mga ganoong instances wine-welcome naman namin ‘yun syempre,” said UST head coach Kungfu Reyes of their perfect run.

Laure hammered 12 attacks and a pair of kill blocks for 14 points while Alessandrini chipped in 11 markers and seven excellent receptions for UST.

The Tigresses uncorked 45 points off kills and played consistently at the net to frustrate the Lady Red Spikers’ hitters.

San Beda dropped to 0-2 slate tied with other NCAA teams San Sebastian College and College of St. Benilde.

Nieza Viray was the only Lady Red Spiker in double figures with 17 points while Nieza Viray and Kimberly Manzano combined for 10 markers.
