The Perpetual Help Lady Altas finally barged into the win column after three straight losses.
The University of Perpetual Help scored their first win after frustrating the San Sebastian Lady Stags, 25-15, 19-25, 27-25, 26-24, Thursday evening at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
With both teams exchanging errors that reached 39 each, it was the Lady Altas who proved to be the better team.
"Sabi ko before, one game at a time kami. Siguro, ito na 'yung start na medyo umangat kami. Medyo struggle kami noong simula," Lady Altas coach Macky Carino reflected after an error-filled game.
After drawing first blood, the Altas let the Stags equalize in the second set.
"Lucky kami na nanalo kami noong first set. Eventually, naging relax noong second set," Carino said.
In the next set, Perpetual's Aurora Tripoli pressed on amid the errors and took charge.
However, by the fourth set, San Sebastian was already at set point at 24-23 but due to three consecutive errors, bowed down to the Altas, 26-24.
Tripoli poured 22 points for the Altas, while Cindy Imbo added 12. Shane Requierme paced the Lady Stags with 16 points.
The Lady Altas improved to a1-3 record. They will take on the FEU Lady Tamaraws next on August 12 while the Lady Stags, who slide to a lowly 0-3 record, will face the UP Lady Maroons on August 8.
