PVL: Adamson nips FEU for third straight win

Adamson University stretched its winning run to three at the expense of Far Eastern University.
Adamson University survived a cliffhanger match over Far Eastern University, 30-28, 27-25, 21-25, 19-25, 15-13, to remain unscathed after three games in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Falcons came back from a two-point deficit in the closing stretch of the fifth set to hand the Lady Tamaraws their first loss and move to solo second spot behind league-leading University of Sto. Tomas (4-0).
“It’s better than our last two games but we’re still inconsistent,” said Lady Falcons head coach Air Padda, who rued her wards’ disappointing outing in the third and fourth sets after taking the first two frames.
Eli Soyud scored 24 points with 19 coming off kills including the game-clinching attack for Adamson. Skipper Le-Ann Perez finished with 17 points while Joy Dacoron and Bernadette Flora added 12 and 11 markers, respectively, for the Lady Falcons.
Adamson went down 10-12 in the deciding frame before scoring four straight points including two off FEU’s Jerrili Malabanan’s back-to-back attack errors to take move at match point, 14-12.
Malabanan saved a match point on a kill before Soyud closed the match with a hit that went through the block of Malabana and Czarina Carandang.
Jeanette Villareal scored 22 points including 10 off kill blocks, Malabanan had 14 while Heather Guino-o and rookie Lycha Ebon registered 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for FEU, which slid to 3-1 slate.
