PVL: Lady Maroons back in winning form

University of the Philippines swept San Sebastian College to get back in the win column.
University of the Philippines bounced back mightily from a previous setback after a making a quick work of listless San Sebastian College, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16, Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Rookie Lorielyn Bernardo had a breakout game for the Lady Maroons, scoring 10 points with all but one coming off attacks.
“Oh that was great, I wasn’t counting (her points),” said UP head coach Godfrey Okumu of his King’s Montessori recruit.
“She played well today,” added the mentor, whose wards improved to 2-1 win-loss record.
Marian Buitre got 10 markers while Isa Molde added seven for the Diliman-based squad.
Setter Ayel Estranero tallied 23 excellent sets on top of eight markers for UP, which recovered from a four-set loss to University of Sto. Tomas the last time out.
The Lady Stags remained winless in four outings.
Team captain Joyce Sta. Rita had seven points while Jamille Carreon finished with five for SSC-R.
