National University breezed past Far Eastern University for its fifth straight win and a share of the lead.
National University braved the heavy downpour and flooded metro to keep its winning streak going in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference men's divisionSunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Bulldogs were red-hot as they waylaid a shocked Far Eastern University, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22, for their fifth straight victory in as many outings to take a share of the lead with idle University of Sto. Tomas.
Bryan Bagunas ravaged the defense of UAAP rival Tamaraws with 22 points to lead NU. The UAAP Season 80 Finals Most Valuable Player poured 19 kills and landed three aces in a display of his usual explosiveness on offense.
Francis Saura and Kim Malabunga combined for 15 markers for the Bulldogs, who snapped FEU’s two-game winning run.
The Tams were outgunned, 28-44, on attacks and no FEU player scored in double figures.
Peter Quiel had eight points while JP Bugaoan and Mark Calado submitted seven each for FEU, which suffered its third loss in five games.
Meanwhile, De La Salle University finally notched its first win after five games at the expense of San Beda University, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.
Cris Dumago scored all of his 15 points on attacks while Geraint Bacon got nine markers for the Green Spikers.
The Red Spikers tied FEU with 2-3 card.
