Adamson University stretched its winning streak to six.
Unbeaten Adamson University needed extra work in its second of back-to-back weekend games Sunday to stave off upset-conscious San Beda University, 25-16, 16-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8, in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The semifinals-bound Lady Falcons inched closer to completing a sweep of the elimination round with their sixth win in as many outings but faced tough resistance from the Lady Red Spikers.
Adamson came off a four-set win over University of Sto. Tomas Saturday.
“I think it was a little rough for our girls to have back-to-back but I think more so mentally,” said Adamson coach Air Padda. “I think coming off our win yesterday, we’re still really inconsistent but at least sometimes with that little break in between your games you can go back to the gym and work on some stuff. We don’t have the luxury of doing that and today once even more inconsistent than yesterday.”
Eli Soyud scattered 17 points off 12 attacks, four kill blocks and an ace while Joy Dacoron scored 13 markers highlighted by six kill blocks for the Lady Falcons.
Bernadette Flora got 12 markers while Trisha Genesis added nine for Adamson.
San Beda dropped to 1-4 slate and are on the verge of getting the boot in the race for the last best-of-three semifinals berth race.
Cesca Racraquin scored 23 points to pace the Lady Red Spikers while Nieza Viray and Satriani Espiritu finished with 16 and 10 markers, respectively.
