PVL: Tigers eye elims sweep, top seed in semis
University of Sto. Tomas set its sights on completing an elimination round sweep.

University of Sto. Tomas shoots for an elimination round sweep and the no. 1 seed in the Final Four when the Tigers engage National University Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference men's play at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 9:00 a.m.

The Tigers sport a clean 8-0 win-loss record and a win will lock them the top spot in the best-of-three semifinals.

Behind UST are the Bulldogs, who hold a 7-1 card.

To take the no. 1 seed in the Final Four, NU must win in three or four sets. A five-set win by the Bulldogs will still hand the top seat to UST by virtue of a higher quotient.

The team that will end at no. 2 will take on third seed Adamson University in the Final Four.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines clash at 11:00 a.m. for the right to face College of St. Benilde in a playoff for the last semis berth.

The Tamaraws and Fighting Maroons are tied at fifth to sixth place with 4-4 cards. The survivor of the match will march in a playoff against the Blazers on Wednesday.
