"We knew we had a slim chance (of making it into the semis). We talked about this game and the only thing I said is we try to play like it’s our final game because we made a lot of mistakes the last few games. Our finishes were not good and we were not decisive in some decisions or some moves we're making," said UP coach Godfrey Okumu. "We did our homework well as well. The homework that we did was able to help us today get the results."
Isa Molde spearheaded the Lady Maroons' 67-minute victory as the incoming fourth year spiker delivered 19 points highlighted by 17 attacks with 16 digs while Marian Buitre added 10 markers for the Lady Maroons.
UP outgunned San Beda, 39-16, with rookie setter Marianne Sotomil tallying 20 excellent sets to ochestrate the Lady Maroons' attacks.
The Lady Red Spikers closed their campaign with a 2-5 slate.
No San Beda player scored in double figures with Nieza Viray posting only six points and skipper Cesca Racraquin limited to only four markers.
